The Barefoot Man
There lived a man who was so great that he changed the entire world. Usually when stories start like this, you assume that this person lived some time before your great great grandparents. This time however, that is not the case. This man has taken breaths at the same time as many of you, read the same news articles, and perhaps for some of us, even shopped at the same grocery stores.
I will not use his name for this story (for suspense); I will refer to him here, and in future lessons from him as “The Barefoot Man”. Please believe me when I tell you that being alive at the same time as this man, has been a gift to us all, and the generations that follow.
Recently my husband wanted to know why The Barefoot Man preferred being barefoot, being the curious soul he is, he asked me to channel this man, and the answer blew me away.
The Barefoot Man told me how it felt impossible to take yourself too seriously when you have no shoes on. Emphasizing the importance of recognizing a human when you look in the mirror rather than a God, regardless of your earthly status.
When you can feel the coolness of the earth beneath your feet, you are reminded that you will return to her one day, becoming the dirt that you walk on. Knowing that the moment you are in is fleeting.
You are part of the earth. When you can feel that part of yourself immovable underneath your feet it makes your impermanent time here feel less intimidating, relieves stress, and brings you back to yourself.
He talked of the duty that we have as humans to keep ourselves grounded. Saying that the greater the influence we have on this earth, the greater the responsibility we have to continuously remind ourselves how small we truly are. If there are people following you in any capacity, make sure you are worth following by remembering what’s important and leading the way as your authentic self, whatever that is.
During this session, the lessons came flowing in like a tidal wave, and at the end, he asked me if I “caught that word”. It just so happened that I did. The word was immovable. He wanted me to explain to you the importance of that word. He told me to feel how sturdy the earth is under my feet, and asked if I could move it. What if I jumped on it? If I sat on it, would it budge? No; the earth is immovable. It can change shape in subtle ways, and it may even look different on the surface after a period of time; but we cannot move it.
The connection that you have to this earth doesn’t stop at the concept of learning that you will return to her. It also comes with the understanding of the deep, systemic, absolutely magical knowing that you are her as well.
You draw power from her if you allow yourself to be open to it. You too, although a small piece of her, can be immovable just like her. You have real power and can harness that through physically connecting to the earth.
Your feet are sacred points of your body. They breathe, and receive energies. In some ways, they are even the starting point or foundation of the energies that you will live in, and become. Allow them to connect with the mother and feel the beauty that she is; and then you will find it in yourself.
